Tamarind Springs Ampang

Tamarind Springs is an interesting tropical hideaway in the city. Nestled within Ampang's natural forest reserve, your wedding guests can expect a true Jungle-Luxe celebration and dining experience, unlike any other. However there is no air-conditioning as it is set in nature. The restaurant serves traditional Indochinese Village Cuisine (Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam) dishes from those served in the royal palace to those found in the humble homes of farmers. House creations by Chef Somkhuan Wandee.

Mentioned by many as the most romantic restaurant in KL, it is no doubt a perfect venue for weddings in term of ambiance and food. However the path from the carpark to the restaurant is dark, there are steps and not high hill friendly. The restaurant is situated on the upper level. Also the price is not cheap.

Samadhi Retreats Sdn. Bhd. owns Tamarind Springs and its sister restaurants Tamarind Hill and NEO Tamarind. Under the same group are two one-of-a-kind boutique hotels JapaMala Resort (Tioman Island) and Villa Samadhi (KL).

The entrance to Tamarind Spring is a little red door hut which I almost missed. Tamarind Springs in Ampang is certainly a tropical paradise filled with lush greenery, and mosquitos and monkeys....You may wanna spray some mosquito repellent. The beautifully tunnel-like arch by mother nature is one of my favourite spot. I was here at 8am to attend a wedding. Do expect to walk a little and there will be steps to climb too. Lots of Balinese inspired statues are found all over the place. At the heart of Tamarind Springs is this mini pool. The deco here is in preparation of a garden-themed wedding. A blissful sanctuary that's so calm and peaceful.

I was at the restaurant for a wedding reception recently. In my entire career (21 years) as a wedding photographer I have never came across this type of restaurant that offers the "worst" services that I ever encounter.
1. lack of experience in handling the guest
2. treat the photographers and videographers like dirt.
3. hot and humid. very bad ambience in the restaurant
and it definately not a good restaurant to hold a 10 over table parties or even a wedding reception.

I cannot end without mentioning Tamarind Springs, which is possibly KLs most romantic restaurant. Just 20 minutes from the heart of downtown, it has a stunning jungle setting and a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. You can chose between their two restaurants one offers food from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam whilst the other prepares Malay and Thai dishes.

As much as I love dining at Tamarind Springs, it's too dark, and the path from carpark to restaurant not high-heel-friendly to lady guests, therefore not recommended.
I love their food, but on a more cozy ocassion, like dinner for two. Not for a party.
